Hannibal Bingo is a low-pressure bingo-style fanwork creation challenge in celebration of Bryan Fuller's Hannibal. We accept fills in all mediums and have no minimum requirements, and we accept all characters and ships. For more information, follow the links above or check out our Tumblr blog.
ABOUT
Hannibal Bingo is a bingo-style fanwork creation challenge for Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal. All pairings and characters are welcome, and we won’t tolerate hate or shaming of any kind. Anyone can participate, but you must be 18 or older to request NSFW or Dead Dove prompts. Please also note that many of our prompts are of a nature similar to the show, and include violent and disturbing themes that may not be appropriate for all ages; please use your discretion.Participants will receive a personal, randomized bingo card (either 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5) containing various prompts relating to the show. They will then fill these prompts by creating new, previously unpublished content in a variety of mediums; we accept any kind of content you’d like to create, and we don’t have any minimum requirements.This challenge is, first and foremost, meant to be fun. There is no pressure on participants to finish their card or even achieve a bingo; create as much or as little as you want, and fill as many or as few prompts as you’d like.
HOW IT WORKS
Fill out this form to request your card! You’ll have the option to choose which size card you would like (3x3, 4x4, or 5x5), what kind of prompts you would like (see our FAQ for more information regarding prompt types), and to give us a little more information about what you do and don’t want to see on your card.As soon as you receive your card, you can start posting fills! And if you aren’t happy with your card, we do accept remake requests. We will replace up to half of your prompts (4 for a 3x3, 8 for a 4x4, or 12 for a 5x5) or we can remake your card entirely.You may request a second (or third, or fourth, etc.) card, but only after you’ve completed at least one bingo (one horizontal, vertical, or full diagonal line).
POSTING
You're welcome to post to any site of your choosing. We ask that you include the following information: square filled, warnings (if any), and a link (if your fill is hosted on another site, such as Ao3). We also recommend you include a word count, rating, and pairing information, if applicable. when posting on Twitter, be sure to tag our blog or use #HannibalBingo, and when posting on Tumblr, we request you do both. This makes it easy for us to see and reblog/retweet your fill! If you’re posting to Ao3, feel free to post to our collection.
WHAT KIND OF CONTENT CAN I CREATE?
We accept all kinds of creations as fills! Here are a few examples of the kinds of content you can make:
poetry, meta, and fanfiction
fanart
moodboards, picspams, gifs, and graphics
fanvideos and fanmixes
knitting and sewing projects
recipes and culinary endeavors
These are by no means the only media we accept—feel free to get as creative as you want!
WHAT’S THE MINIMUM WORD COUNT/ETC.?
There isn’t one! Feel free to create as much or as little as your heart desires.
WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE?
Our sign-ups will remain open for the foreseeable future! There is no set “end date” for the bingo, but we do “reset” once a year, at which time any participant can sign up for a new card, not just those who’ve achieved a bingo.
WHAT KIND OF PROMPTS CAN I EXPECT?
We have several categories of prompts that participants can opt into/out of receiving. You can feel free to use our special request fields at the end of the form to specify further (for example, you might check the box for ‘Settings/Events’ but ask that only canon locations be used, or check the box for ‘NSFW/Kink’ prompts but say you don’t want any BDSM).Our prompt categories are:- Episodes/Seasons - What it says on the tin! (e.g. Season 1, 202 Sakizuke, etc.)
- Characters - Characters and groups of characters (e.g. Will Graham, The Lost Boys, Applesauce, etc.)
- Objects - Items that bear relevance to or are mentioned in the series (e.g. Aftershave, Punch Romaine, Linoleum Knife, etc.)
- Settings/Events - Both canon and general (e.g. Wolf Trap, Morgue, The Middle of the Night, etc.)
- Quotes/Phrases - From various episodes (e.g. "He’s eating them", "Neither savage nor wise", "A professional curiosity," etc.)
- Miscellaneous - Various prompts related to the show that don’t fit in any of the above categories (e.g. Empathy, Memory Palace, Botticelli, etc.)
- Tropes/Tags - Tropes and tags from fanfiction, Hannibal fics, and fiction in general (e.g. Concealing an Injury, Fairytale/Mythology AU, Abigail Hobbs Lives, etc.)
- NSFW/Kink* - Kinks and general sexual prompts (e.g. Voyeurism, A/B/O, First Time, etc.)
- Dead Dove* - intense and unusual kinks, taboos, disturbing/objectionable content, etc. (e.g. Gaslighting, Rape/Noncon, Pyrophilia)
- HEU Characters** - characters from the Hannibal Extended Universe (i.e., Hugh and Mads characters from works other than Hannibal) (e.g. Tristan (King Arthur), Prince Charmont (Ella Enchanted), Bobby Bronson (Roar))
- HEU Objects** - items that bear relevance to or are mentioned in various HEU works (e.g. Nigel's Dog Shirt (Charlie Countryman), Fresh Cod (Another Round), Thigh-High Leather Boots (Venus in Fur))
- HEU Settings/Events** - settings and events that bear relevance to various HEU works (e.g. Masquerade (A Royal Affair), Video Store (Bleeder), Denmark (HEU))
- HEU Miscellaneous** - various prompts related to the HEU that don't fit in any of the above categories (e.g. Lost at Sea (Valhalla Rising), Haemolacria (Casino Royale), Risk Addiction (Basic Instinct 2))
* Please note that you must be 18 or older to request NSFW/Kink or Dead Dove prompts
** HEU prompts will have the media that inspired them in parentheses after the prompt. Prompts taken from multiple sources will have (HEU) after the prompt
DO I NEED TO TAKE THE PROMPTS LITERALLY?
Nope! You're welcome to use all our prompts however they inspire you—twist the meaning, include it in passing, interpret it loosely. You're welcome to use quotes in their canon context, include them as dialogue, or just let them inform the content or mood of your piece. The whole point of this challenge is to spark your creativity and inspire Hannibal content, so you're welcome to take your prompts as strictly or loosely as you wish.
DO I NEED TO USE HEU PROMPTS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE WORK THEY'RE FROM?
No! We've included the HEU work that inspired the prompt in parenthesis only to help inform the curious—you're welcome to use the prompts in any context. For example, feel free to fill "Telescope (Adam)" with a drawing of Hannibal Lecter using a telescope. You are, of course, welcome to use them in the context of the original piece if you so choose!
CAN I CREATE HEU CONTENT WITH NON-HEU PROMPTS?
Yes! Feel free to use any of our prompts for HEU content and vice versa!
WHAT WILL THE CARDS LOOK LIKE?
Great question! Here’s an example:
WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH THE FREE SPACE?
The free space is there to help you get a bingo! You still need to post a fill for it, but the only requirement is that the fill be Hannibal-related; there is no prompt.
CAN I COMBINE MY FILLS WITH OTHER CHALLENGES/BINGOS?
Sure! As long as the other challenge has no problem with it, and you adhere to our guidelines for posting (tagging our blog, including relevant information, etc.), go wild!
CAN I FILL TWO PROMPTS WITH ONE CREATION?
The spirit of the challenge is a new piece for every prompt/square, with the exception being multi-chaptered fic—each chapter can be a separate fill. That being said, we're not going to stop you from combining your prompts!
I DON’T KNOW IF I CAN FINISH MY CARD. CAN I SIGN UP FOR ONE ANYWAY?
Please do!! While we’re sure some people will plan on getting one or more bingos or even blacking their card out, this is first and foremost meant to be a fun way to inspire more Hannibal content. Even if you think you’ll only fill one prompt, or aren’t sure you’ll be able to fill any, we encourage you to give it a shot anyway!
CAN I GET A SECOND CARD?
Yes! As long as you’ve achieved at least one bingo (one horizontal, vertical, or full diagonal line), you’re welcome to request a second or even third! The form for an additional card request can be found here.
DO I NEED A TUMBLR/TWITTER TO PARTICIPATE? CAN I POST TO AO3?
You do not need a Tumblr or Twitter to participate! That’s why we offer the option to receive your card via email. You’re more than welcome to post fills to Twitter, Ao3 (our Ao3 collection can be found here), or any other site of your choosing!
